The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) as a confidential counselling service that is available to all ACU staff. The EAP can provide counselling sessions (in person or over the phone) to staff members and their immediate family who are facing personal and work-related issues. The service is free, voluntary and confidential.

Manager Support

The EAP provides a confidential support service to managers and supervisors to work through workplace issues and challenges.
The Manager Support service provides assistance with issues as they arise through consultation with Acacia EAP senior clinical professionals. The service allows managers to co-operatively formulate strategies and talk through how best to deal with difficult situations to ensure the best preparation and outcome.

The Manager Support service can assist managers with a range of issues:

  • how to encourage staff to use the EAP
  • how to have helpful conversations with staff experiencing difficulties
  • support in how to effectively communicate in the workplace, for e.g., workplace change
  • assistance in handling team issues or facilitating team cohesion
  • managing a challenging staff member or a staff member who is behaving unusually
  • dealing with employee performance management issues (the emotional component)
  • how to provide support to staff following a traumatic event in the workplace.

For more information visit the Manager section of the Acacia EAP website. To access the Manager Support service call the EAP on 1300 364 273.
