ACU values the health and wellbeing of its staff and students and is committed to providing a smoke-free work and study environment.
As a recognised leader in the provision of major programs in the fields of health and education, this move ensures the University is matching its best practice education with best practice policy.
From 1 January 2015, ACU joined many other Australian universities in becoming a Tobacco-Free University.
ACU’s Tobacco-Free Policy outlines what a tobacco-free environment means:
The policy includes ACU land, buildings, vehicles, facilities and other property owned or leased by or under the control of the University. It affects anyone who studies, works or visits ACU premises, including the general public, volunteers and contractors, including people attending conferences, events and functions on ACU premises during the week and weekends.
Please refer to the Tobacco-Free policy for further information. For enquiries, please contact smoke.free@acu.edu.au
ACU staff and students who are smokers are encouraged to support our commitment to a smoke-free ACU, and to caring for our environment, by reducing cigarette butt litter in the local neighbourhood. Obtain a free clip-on personal ashtray by requesting one from your local campus Concierge Desk. Measuring 8cm long and 1.5cm wide, the ashtray is designed to fit easily into your pocket and will hold around a dozen butts before it needs to be emptied.
