The IT Directorate is improving ACUs meeting and collaboration tools to help staff to communicate and collaborate more effectively from any device, anytime and from anywhere.
The Unified Communication and Collaboration (UCC) Project will integrate ACU’s video and teleconferencing, instant messaging, staff availability (presence), and web collaboration tools with Microsoft Office 365. The UCC Project is part of the IT’s Digital Workspace to provide staff a seamless digital workspace experience across all devices.
Skype for Business will be integrated with Polycom into the one system to provide a seamless video and teleconferencing experience.
ACU’s new meeting tool
Skype for Business is now ACU’s preferred meeting tool.
We have streamlined ACU’s meeting tools to a single platform - Skype for Business - to provide a seamless video, instant messaging and teleconferencing experience.
Polycom Realpresence and Cisco MeetingPlace will be phased out eventually. During a transition period, Polycom will still be available to use.
Flexibility to join a meeting from any device, anytime and from anywhere
Meetings can easily be conducted from remote and dispersed locations for both internal and external users
Improved meeting experiences
Saves you time—you can quickly connect to your colleagues and share content, no time wasted trying to connect to colleagues through clunky, disparate communications systems
Skype for Business is a meeting and collaboration tool that lets you connect with anyone through instant messaging, phone calls, video calls and online meetings, check staff availability (presence) and share content. It’s an all-in-one application that works with Office 365.
It provides interconnectivity between desktop devices, mobile and Microsoft Office 365 collaborative tools.
You can meet and collaborate from any device, anytime and from anywhere
Where do I find it on my computer?

Why this change?
Currently ACU has a range of collaboration tools with multiple vendors. This infrastructure is aging and reaching full capacity, and there is no inter-connectivity between these systems and our Microsoft Office 365 collaborative tools.
Information awareness sessions will be held to show you how to use Skype for Business. Please register your interest by email ACU-UCC@acu.edu.au
In the coming months:
upgrading all staff to Office 2016 and Windows 10
IT is also working on a long-term solution to integrate ACU’s Web Room Booker with the Microsoft Outlook to enable you to book meetings and rooms in the one place.
