Before completing your extended unit outline (EUO) for the coming semester you need to determine whether your generic unit outline (GUO) is on the ‘old’ (pre-2017) template or the ‘new’ (2017 onwards) template.
The basic difference is that units written on the new GUO will contain:
a unit rationale,
a learning and teaching strategy and rationale,
an assessment strategy and rationale.
If these elements are not present on your GUO it is on the ‘old’ template.
You then need to proceed as follows –
If your unit is on the new GUO template
Transfer the key information from the GUO to the EUO and develop the teaching schedule, assessments and other information for students.
If your unit is on the old GUO template
Use your previous EUO (you may need to obtain a copy of the ‘old’ EUO from the relevant administrator).
Edit the ‘old’ EUO as required.
Note that the practice of editing a previously developed EUO is an interim measure only whilst GUOs are being progressively transferred to the new template. Once units are in the new template, EUOs should only be developed by transferring information from the GUO to the EUO to ensure an aligned curriculum.

How to use the template
You can download the template and fill in the fields, or you may be able to copy and paste any minor updates into a previous version of your unit outline.
Faculties may have created faculty-specific templates. It is the responsibility of the Lecturer in Charge of a unit to check with the Course (Program) Coordinator for any information specific to the course (or program) and Faculty that is to be included in the extended unit outline.

Multiple changes to match the new Generic Unit Outline.

Under the heading ‘Quality assurance and student feedback’, the term “SEU” [student evaluation of unit] was replaced with the name of the new evaluation tool, “SELT”.
In the assessment summary table, a new row and blank assignment description has been added for a hurdle task. The template reflects the maximum of three summative tasks per 10 credit point units of the 2016 Assessment Policy.
The sentence ‘Grading Descriptors for the unit are detailed in section 7 of the Academic Regulations’ has been deleted from under the ‘ACU Policies and Regulation’ section. This is because, from 1 January 2016, grading descriptors are now included in the Assessment Policy.
The name ‘Equity and Disability’ has been replaced with the name ‘Disability Services’ in the list of support units provided by the Office of Student Success.
The reorganisation of the Students website (students.acu.edu.au) required the re-mapping of some URLs.
