Completed functionality of the Video Editor function in My Media via the 'Launch Editor' button:
The CaptureSpace application will also be completely removed and replaced with the new application Kaltura Capture, which provides a similar set of recording features as CaptureSpace. You will need to download and install this new application through My Media > Add New, similar to how you installed CaptureSpace previously.
The LEO Guides for Kaltura will be updated to reflect the new look and interface options. The CaptureSpace guides will be removed and a new guide for Kaltura Capture will be available as soon as possible in both the staff guides and the LEO student guides.
Kaltura Media Assignment removal
On 22 June 2019, the Kaltura Media Assignment activity will be removed from the list of available LEO activities. This means you will no longer be able to select this activity when adding activities and resources to your LEO units:
We recommend using the regular Assignment tool instead to accept video submissions (see below).
How will this impact existing Kaltura Media Assignments?
This change will remove existing Kaltura Media Assignment activities that are currently in your units. You and your students will no longer be able to access the assignment through the link in your unit. The grading and feedback tools of the Kaltura Media Assignment will not be accessible.
You should have graded and provided feedback to your students well before the removal date. If you have detailed feedback, you may wish to provide this to students as a Word document or PDF via email, so that they have a copy to refer to later.
The grade item for the assignment will be preserved in the Grades section of your unit, with all grades and comments saved and the settings for the assignment locked:
Removal of the Kaltura Media Assignment activity will not delete submitted videos from a student's Kaltura Media Library.
How can I accept video submissions in the future?
You can use the Assignment activity to accept video submissions:
Using this activity, students can upload their videos to their Kaltura Media Library, then submit by embedding the video in the assignment's "Online Text" submission option.
The University’s Learning Environment Online (LEO) will be undergoing important upgrades to the Learning Management System (Moodle) and ePortfolio (Mahara) on Thursday 10 and Friday 11 January 2019. During this period, you will NOT be able to access LEO. LEO will be available again on Saturday 12 January 2019.
What can you expect after the 2019 LEO Upgrade?
There will be some minor changes to how parts of LEO look in terms of colour and layout. However, following are the most important considerations to keep in mind.
The LEO Home Page
The main section of the LEO home page will look quite different. It has been simplified to include quick links to:
My Portfolio, and
Navigating to your unit from the LEO Home page will be similar - i.e., go to Navigation > My Units > Unit title.
Your LEO unit
Your LEO unit will largely look and function the same way after the upgrade as they do now.
