Once your video has been uploaded to your Echo360 library, you can make a link to the video, which you can then use to add a text link or to embed the video in your LEO unit.

How to make a link to an Echo360 video

  1. Log into Echo360.org.au

  2. Find the video in your library that you wish to link to by browsing all videos, or use the Search or Filter functions on this page.

  3. Mouse over the video thumbnail and click the blue square icon that appears, then click the Share button in the pop-up menu:
    Video share button
  4. The Share Settings panel will appear. Click on the Links tab, then click the Add Link button.
  5. Click the Copy button to copy the direct web link or click the Embed button to copy the embed code to use in your LEO unit (see more information below).
  6. Click the Done button to close the Share Settings panel.

Note the Public Access option. If you do not want your video visible to anyone outside ACU, click this button to make the video not publicly accessible (meaning it will require users to log in using their ACU details in order to view the video).

    The Copy link option
  2. In your LEO unit, turn editing on, then click the Add an activity or resource link in the section where you want to add the link.

How to embed a video in your LEO unit

The embed code can be used in any resource or activity where you have access to the LEO text editor. This is often a Label resource, though the text editor is also used in most other resources or activities.

  1. From the Share Settings panel, click the Embed button to open the Embed Link panel:
    The embed button
  2. Click the Copy button to copy the embed code, then click the Done button to close this panel:
    The copy embed code button
  3. In your activity settings in LEO, in the text editor where you wish to place the video:
    1. Click the Toggle Toolbar button to reveal the additional editing options.
    2. Click the Edit HTML Source button:
      Choose HTML source option
  4. Paste the embed code you copied earlier into the HTML Source Editor panel.
  5. Click the Update button. The HTML panel will close, and you should now see the video embedded in the text editor content.
  6. Click the Save and return to unit button to save your changes.

To learn more about embedding videos, please see LEO Guides: How to embed a YouTube video into a text editor field.

How to make your video available to your course

If your unit is a course in Echo360 and students can access this unit via an External Tool link in your LEO unit, you can share a video in your Echo360 library with all students in the course by attaching the video to a Class (new or existing).

  1. From the Share Settings panel, click the Class button:
    The Class option for sharing
  2. Using the dropdown options, choose the Course, Term and Section to determine the unit you wish to share the video with:
    Share with course options
  3. Choose a Class to associate the video with, either using the dropdown box under the Existing Class tab, or click the New Class tab and fill in the details for your new Class:
    New class details
  4. Edit the Availability options if you wish.
  5. Click the Share button to finish.

When accessing Echo360 via the External Tool link in your unit, your students will now see the video as part of this new Class in the recordings list.
