Message from the Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic): I am pleased to share with you some recent highlights from the work of my Portfolio including the International Academic Catholic Collective and the ACU Leadership Centre in Brisbane.
International Academic Catholic Collective (IACC)
I am delighted to announce that ACU and St Mary’s University, Twickenham are collaborating to form an International Academic Catholic Collective (IACC). This is a key outcome from ACU’s recent hosting of the Presidents’ Roundtable held in July 2015; as part of the 25th IFCU General Assembly suite of events.
Drawing on the strengths of leading Catholic universities across the world, our aim is to further and deepen ACU’s reach, presence and academic strength through international collaboration. This will be achieved via collaboration with various international higher education institutions across varied geographic regions, unified by the Catholic Intellectual Tradition. In doing so, we are able to offer rich opportunities for our students as well as enriching their learning journey and experiences.
The Collective will also be an ideal mechanism to form knowledge partnerships. The Presidents’ Roundtable and Presidents’ Networking dinner provided the platform to consolidate thinking on the notion of: the collective; potential partners; potential geographic reach; and, next steps towards formation and launch.
I will keep you updated as the Collective takes shape and helps ACU build a stronger international profile.
ACU Leadership Centre, Brisbane
Operational since November 2014 as a state-of-the-art executive and postgraduate education centre, the ACU Leadership Centre is a pilot centre under ACU’s Satellite Strategy and has seen a solid growth in engagement with both internal and external clients. To date, a total of 230 bookings have been placed in 2015 to host events for ACU colleagues, Catholic partners and a variety of corporate clients linked to our Executive Education offerings.
Importantly the Centre is a forum for ACU Faculties to offer courses, the location of which will assist in attracting a different student profile to ACU and to consolidate and provide choice for our existing student cohort.
This year the Centre has hosted a number of significant events for the ACU community including the Learning Sciences Institute Australia’s three day International Symposium which attracted 130 participants in July 2015.
A new prospectus has been completed for the Centre and a new website complete with a virtual tour feature and full-time staff to assist. I encourage you to review the website here. Email LeadershipCentre.Brisbane@acu.edu.au for enquiries or bookings.
