Meet ACU Engagement team member Peter Boyle, read our latest news and find out about opportunities to get involved.
Thank you Melbourne Campus
The St Vincent de Paul Society's Collingwood Food Centre gratefully received your Reverse Advent Calendar donations this week. You over flowed our baskets and will make a difference to dozens of people in need in the local area.
The Collingwood Food Centre allows local people in need to be assisted by the SVdP Society without pressure from peers to trade supermarket vouchers (which are usually given out by the Society) for drugs. Instead, people are allocated a certain number of points which can only be spent at the Centre thus ensuring those in need receive necessary food supplies.

Meet Peter Boyle
My name is Peter Boyle and I am the newly appointed Community Engagement Program Manager for ACU Engagement. Towards the end of 2017, I worked on the team as the Transition Manager on secondment from Executive Education.
Into this year, I am looking forward to building on experience at ACU within this new national role.
ACU Engagement is a new portfolio under the direction of Professor Sandra Jones, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Engagement) within the Office of the Vice President. As a national team, we are excited to support the staff, students and alumni of our university to participate in community engagement locally, nationally and internationally.
I lead a team of newly appointed Community Engagement Officers who have responsibilities across each of the campuses. Together we are committed and passionate about expanding and deepening community engagement across our university. This means working collaboratively with internal stakeholders to develop a nationally consistent approach to programs, and strengthening our relationships with external partners.
What I really like about my role is that it brings me closer to life’s realities across various communities and presents some fresh perspectives on ways we can live the ACU Mission. I am optimistic and excited about the year ahead.
Opportunities to make a difference
Foodbank NSW are looking for people to help out in the month of January when regular volunteers are off on holiday (give a day and gain a whole new perspective on food security).
Caritas Melbourne are looking for volunteer speakers to promote Project Compassion in parishes in the lead up to Lent.
