On Thursday 1 March Sport, Health & Wellbeing hosted a morning tea to officially launch and bless the new ACU Sport Gym, Melbourne.
ACU Sport staff were very pleased to welcome sport and non-sport club representatives, academic staff, SLT portfolio staff, Properties and Facilities staff, contractors, and ACU supporters to this event to help celebrate the opening of the new fitness space on the Melbourne campus.
Professor Anne Cummins, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Students, Learning & Teaching) led proceedings by officially launching the gym and Father Michael Kong, Campus Chaplain provided the blessing.
Professor Anne Cummins said, “As the gym continues to grow, we look forward to seeing our students engage with the space to improve their social, physical and mental health so that they can succeed in their university studies and build an important lifelong interest in fitness. “
The gym now allows for group fitness classes including yoga, Zumba, circuit and boxing classes to be operating in conjunction with members who wish to work out on their own, creating a community vibe for students and a place where they can come to exercise and build on a healthier and happier engaged campus life.
