Full-time secondment to Academic Level D, for a period of 12 months

The Provost is seeking Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified staff to operate at an Academic Level D in the leadership position of Lead Academic, Core Curriculum for a period of 12 months.
Reporting to the Provost, the Lead Academic will lead the implementation and evaluation of the Core Curriculum and oversight the academic quality of the program, as well as liaise across the Faculties around the delivery of the Core Curriculum in 2016 . The Lead Academic will be required to be involved in supervising some staff involved in the Core Curriculum. At the close of 2016 the lead academic will be required to provide an evidence based report to the Provost following an ongoing evaluation of the first cycle of implementation of the new units, including an analysis of SET and SEUs.
This secondment may include payment of a higher duties allowance if the appointees' current academic level is lower than the advertised position.

The Core Curriculum is ACU’s flagship academic offering, raising for our undergraduate students, some of the most fundamental questions about human experience and meaning to equip students to address them with intelligence, compassion, and a heightened ethical awareness. The Core Curriculum is also offered internationally, including at ACU’s new Rome Centre, playing a key role in furthering the footprint of Catholic Intellectual Tradition.
Committed to continuous improvement, a minor review of the Core Curriculum was instituted in 2014 under the Provost’s leadership, with implementation of the Review’s recommendations under implementation in 2015-2016. This review is under the leadership of the Provost, supported by a multi- disciplinary ACU Working Group comprising Academic, Governance, International and Communication Sub-Groups. Currently, the Core Curriculum is in a transitionary phase, until the review is fully implemented.

The appointee will be expected to teach in the Core Curriculum; demonstrate academic leadership in program implementation and make high-level contributions to the strategic direction of the Core Curriculum; in consultation with the Provost.
Oversight the delivery of the Core Curriculum including teaching in the Core Curriculum as required.
Provide academic leadership in the maintenance of the curriculum and Core Curriculum resources including oversight of the Learning Management System.
Supervise the Core Curriculum team members centred on program administration.
Oversight academic quality assurance matters related to the Core Curriculum including but not limited to: substantive content of the core curriculum; academic misconduct; moderation of results; and, student feedback.
Develop collaborative relationships with Faculties, including Executive Deans pertaining to matters related to the Core Curriculum including that of teacher recruitment and delivery of Professional Development.
Work with the Core Curriculum Minor Review Sub-Groups as requested by the Provost to further the implementation of the recommendations during the transition phase.
Become a member of the Core Curriculum Minor Review Working Group chaired by the Provost, to contribute to university-wide program governance.
Advocacy work on behalf of the Provost on academic-specific matters pertaining to the Core Curriculum.
Significant teaching experience in a tertiary setting including evidence of quality teaching with a student centred approach.
Demonstrated understanding of the strategic importance of the Core Curriculum to ACU and ability to advocate internally about the Core Curriculum.
Strong understanding of Catholic Social Thought.
Experience in or capacity to acquire ability to teach into the Core Curriculum.
Experience in curriculum development, academic administration and leadership appropriate to the level of appointment.
Demonstrated high level of skills in written and oral communication including abilities in web enhanced or on-line pedagogies.
Demonstrated high standard of interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and to build and maintain positive relationships in an academic team across the University community.
Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise staff.
