Melbourne Campus’ new student engagement hub, The Track, was officially launched to students, staff and VIPs on the evening of Thursday 3 August by Mr Paul McJannett, Director, Student Engagement and Services.
Over 300 students visited The Track during the day and enjoyed activities such as soccer virtual reality, photo booth, free frozen yoghurt, tacos and heaps of prizes.
The Track is a new, dynamic, indoor/outdoor space designed to engage and introduce students to co-curricular activities and events primarily in the Health, Sport and Wellbeing area, as well as hosting Student Enrichment, Equity Pathways, Campus Ministry and faculty programs with a focus on engaging students in an active co-curricular experience.
The Track will promote a semester-based program of highly engaging and relevant activities to entice students into the space and introduce students to key sport programs including the new Melbourne Gym and Sport Clubs. The space will also be used for influential guest speakers in the sport and health arenas, student breakfasts, early morning yoga and meditation classes to energise students, and themed sporting and community events.
Students participating in these activities will gain new perspectives on approaching their studies, improve their feelings of wellbeing, and allow them to better reflect on and respond in ways that enhance their understanding of ACU’s core values: respecting others, caring for others, sharing with others, to build community and a greater satisfaction with their university experience.
Mr McJannett said: “We look forward to seeing positive student engagement with the space and the activities on offer; and also working with faculty across the university to encourage students to visit The Track, to connect, form friendships, network, join clubs and societies, and develop a sense of pride and belonging with ACU.”
Mr McJannett thanked students, sport clubs representatives, academic staff and supporters for their contribution in creating a strong and positive atmosphere to support the launch of this exciting student engagement space.
Health, Sport and Wellbeing looks forward to working collaboratively with other university departments to make this space engaging for all students. Stay in touch with activities and programs at The Track on our OrgSync portal and Facebook page
