This week Melbourne Campus hosted the 25th General Assembly of the International Federation of Catholic Universities involving delegates from 220 Catholic Universities throughout the world. It was one of a number of conferences held at St Patrick's Campus, making it a global hub of academic activity.
At the IFCU this week: Provost and Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Pauline Nugent, His Excellency Archbishop Zani, Secretary of the Congregation for Catholic Education, Governor General Peter Cosgrove, Lady Cosgrove, Professor Monsignor Guy-Real Thivierge, Secretary-General, IFCU, and Vice-Chancellor Professor Greg Craven.

In the last fortnight, the St. Patrick’s Campus has been the venue for multiple international conferences and a hive of activity.
The first conference was the South American Academics at Jesuit Universities and Schools; followed by 190 international delegates to the five yearly conference of Jesuit Higher Education.
Over the weekend the Vice Chancellor hosted 100-120 local and international Presidents, Rectors, Vice Chancellors of Catholic Universities at a Round Table event. Each event has been overwhelmingly successful.
This week we are hosting the 25th General Assembly of the International Federation of Catholic Universities. This three yearly event, last held in 2012 in Sao Paulo, involves delegates from 220 Catholic Universities throughout the world.
The conferences have been an outstanding opportunity to showcase ACU in the year of our 25th anniversary, strengthen existing partnerships and develop new relationships.
Whilst the weather has been less than desired, the events have run smoothly, the campus presented beautifully and the hospitality extended by members of our various campus teams has be warmly received.
Behind the scenes many teams have worked on the logistics over the past two years and now in execution. They include: the Provost’s team; Campus Ministry; International; IT; Marketing and External Relations; the ACU choir; our student ambassadors; Ecco caterers; cleaning staff; security personnel; Campus Facilities Management; sound and lighting engineers; the translation team; and for this week’s event, ICMS, an external event organising company.
On completing the events this Friday we roll directly into mid-year orientation on Monday followed by the beginning of Semester two and the planning of the next cycle of international conferences for 2016 and beyond.
