The Students with Disabilities Policy and Procedures confirms the University's commitment to access and equity for students with disabilities, medical conditions or who are carers of family members who have disabilities. They ensure the University's compliance with the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005.
The Students with Disabilities Policy and Procedures outlines the responsibilities of students and staff in relation to requests for and provision of reasonable adjustments which are documented in an Education Inclusion Plan developed by Disability Services.
Also available are 'Guidelines to Facilitate Access and Equity' which provide information on the actions that can be taken to improve student's access and equity at ACU.
You can find further information on the legal obligations of the University in relation to ensuring access and equity of students with disabilities in the LEO modules on the Disability Standards for Education 2005. Staff can self-enroll in these 8 modules which take approximately 15 minutes per module to complete. Staff have until the end of the year to complete the modules before the unit enrolments are cleared and the modules are re-implemented for 2018.
