ACU offers a wide range of professional development opportunities throughout the year and these courses facilitated through Human Resources form only a part of the University’s overall offerings for professional development.You can participate in courses at any time during the year.
In addition, did you know that you have the opportunity discuss your professional development plans with your supervisor during your annual Performance Review and Planning (PRP) meeting? This PRP conversation is an opportunity to examine your strengths and understand any areas for further development that will assist you to meet agreed performance objectives and to achieve your career goals.
ACU courses are hosted by a variety of facilitators via face-to-face workshops, webinars, video conferences and e-learning. Along with a brochure giving an overview of the courses run by Human Resources, you can view a 2016 calendar to assist with planning ahead and discussing with your supervisor.
Courses that are hyperlinked in the calendar are open now for registration. Please note that participation in some leadership programs is by invitation only. Some designated courses are compulsory for some staff, so you will be advised if these apply to you.

Courses that are coming up in the next few weeks are also listed in the ACU Staff Bulletin every Tuesday and you can view upcoming training at any time via the ACU training website.
To participate in any course, speak with your Supervisor to ensure it meets organisational unit needs and once you have your nominated supervisor’s approval, register via Staff Connect (Registration instructions). Please note – your registration will only be confirmed once your nominated supervisor has approved your request via Staff Connect.

Self-paced learning online
Taking charge of your professional development is not just about attending courses- staff also have the opportunity to undertake self-paced online learning. The University subscribes to an online training library Lynda.com which gives ACU staff 24/7 access to thousands of high-quality instructional videos.
These videos are taught by industry experts on a range of areas including software, creative and business skills. Interactive exercise sheets are also available to some topics so you can practise your new skills.
