Following the University’s processes, the Provost, Professor Pauline Nugent, has accepted a further term of appointment and will continue in the role until 31 December 2019. Professor Nugent is ACU’s inaugural Provost, and in her first term has delivered significant achievements, which include:
Leadership of ACU’s Enrolment Planning: over the last four years, delivered strong results relating to the development of ACU’s Enrolment Plan, supporting the University to grow by 45 per cent.
Enrolment targets have been established through new strategic and collaborative processes across the University and a new Enrolment Planning Policy.
Leadership of ACU’s Faculties: with a focus on fiscal efficiencies and academic quality. In particular, Professor Nugent led the Futures Project in 2013, resulting in the reduction in the number of Faculties from six to four to improve efficiencies and provide for future sustainability. The Faculty realignment process was completed and the new structures were implemented in 2014.
Growing ACU’s International Profile: In 2013, with the International Directorate moving to the Provost’s portfolio; three key outcomes are evident:
ACU’s Internationalisation Strategy 2014 - 2016 was developed to grow ACU’s international footprint, including a major theme of developing an ‘international classroom.
’Managing on the Vice-Chancellor’s behalf and coordinating across the University, ACU hosted the 25th IFCU General Assembly and related events, which attracted more than 500 delegates from 57 countries. This was one of the most important initiatives in ACU’s history and lifted ACU’s profile among leading international Catholic Higher Education institutions.
Leading on the Vice-Chancellor’s behalf, the negotiations and the establishment of a joint Rome Centre in collaboration with The Catholic University of America (CUA).
This unique three-continent endeavour is a significant milestone for the University and creates new possibilities for interdisciplinary and intercultural scholarship.
Identity and Mission: A major initiative has been the establishment of the Core Curriculum in 2012 and its implementation in 2013. The success of the Core Curriculum has seen international offerings in Florence, Paris and London and now extending to Rome, and Asia. The Provost is leading a Core Curriculum Minor Review, currently under implementation for a refreshed offering in 2016 and beyond. The University congratulates Professor Nugent on these achievements and her continuing tenure.
