Do you know the best ways to support someone if you have concerns about their wellbeing? Next Thursday is R U OK? Day and staff are encouraged to participate in a webinar where a professional counsellor will give practical tips on how to approach this important question with someone who may be having a tough time.
Would you like to know the most effective ways that you can provide support to someone who may be having a tough time?
A large number of Australians will suffer from some form of a common mental health problem, such as depression or anxiety, in their lifetime. Everyday stresses can also have a large impact on wellbeing. Knowing how you can reach out to help can make all the difference to someone who is having difficulties.
Staff are encouraged to participate in these upcoming events to learn the most effective ways to offer support:
This one-hour session will be conducted via video conference at all campuses on Thursday October 8 from midday to 1pm.
A friend, family member or work colleague may experience mental health difficulties at some stage in their life and will be in need of support. This presentation will equip you with strategies and tips for providing support to those close to you.
The seminar will be facilitated by professional counselling service AccessEAP and will cover the following:
understanding common mental health issues
practical ways to support significant others with depression and anxiety
helpful versus unhelpful strategies
behavioural signs and indicators that a person is not coping
