A message from the Provost, Professor Pauline Nugent:
I would like to share some recent highlights from my portfolio.
I am currently leading the Plan to strengthen the Faculty of Education and Arts, which has been a Vice-Chancellor & President Priority for 2017. This Plan is designed to ensure the positive and continued success of this key faculty, especially in light of recent market and policy changes related to our School of Education. Aligned to this is the targeted development of key disciplines in the National School of Arts to expand the University’s strength areas in teaching and research.
This will involve development of new products, strengthening our current offerings and refining offerings following consultation with our external stakeholders. This plan has begun implementation by the Faculty of Education and Arts led by Professor Tania Aspland and I will be providing regular updates to the ACU community regarding our progress, with assistance from Professor Elizabeth Labone, National Head of School of Education and Professor Michael Ondaatje, National Head of School of Arts.
As noted in my recent announcement, Professor Ray Younis begins as Lead Academic, Core Curriculum on 7 June. Based in our North Sydney Campus, Professor Younis will lead the academic oversight of the Core Curriculum, supported by a university-wide Steering Committee.
This week I leave for business in China. The visits will focus on our current and new collaborations in the areas of Health Sciences, Business, Education and Law. I look forward to updating you of the outcomes for our staff and students in the months ahead.
Lastly, the ongoing work by the Faculties, Admissions and my Office is yielding strong results for our Mid-Year Enrolment Strategy. Overall ACU’s total enrolments as of 31 May 2017 are marginally under target by -1.1%, however total load in 2017 represents an increase of 3.8% (941 EFTSL) from total load achieved this time last year.
ACU’s total load is 25,585 EFTSL against the target of 25,875 EFTSL, with total continuing load 3.9% or 290 EFTSL above target. International fee paying enrolment has exceeded target by 8.2% or 208 EFTSL.
