Are you a tech savvy Brisbanite? Zillmere Community Centre needs you
Zillmere Community Centre (North East Community Support Group Inc) is hosting a ‘Zillmere Seniors Open Day’ with a focus on technology, as part of the week-long celebrations during Seniors Week Queensland (18 - 25 August 2018).
The aim of the open day is for seniors to learn new skills or improve on existing skills, to adapt to recent technology changes, and to understand the benefits that come with digital literacy. The open day will include Facebook and mobile workshops, a technology trivia quiz, government and non- government stalls, information on assisted technology aids and a lunch.
Volunteers are needed to help display technologies of interest to seniors aged 55 upwards (computers, iPads, gadgets, assistive technology etc.) and to answer IT questions the public may ask.
The open day will be held on Saturday 18 August 10.00am - 3.00pm at Zillmere Community Centre, 54 Hanford Rd Zillmere. Volunteers should have a blue card just in case some seniors bring their grand-children.
Apply to be a volunteer by July 28 by contacting Andrina Deslandes: Email: AndrinaD@necsg.org.au Phone: 038652880
Don’t forget to donate to the university-wide ‘Personal Hygiene Product’ collection
Over the month of May (Tuesday, May 1 – Thursday, May 31) the ACU Community Impact Network are collecting donations of new or unused travel sized personal hygiene products. Your donations will be sorted into small packs and delivered to those in need in your local community. You can donate now at your campus concierge.
