Commencing in 2019 there will be single, online resource that academics new to ACU are encouraged to use to help them become familiar with the unique nature of learning and teaching at ACU.
The ILAT self-paced resource provides the opportunity to work through information about learning and teaching at ACU before, during and after you commence your teaching engagement at ACU. It can be accessed online, any time, by visiting the Introduction to Learning and Teaching self guided resource.
The resource helps you to explore your teaching or leading role at ACU. You do not have to complete all the resource tasks, rather self-select what you need when you need it most. It has been designed for academics new to ACU regardless of prior teaching experience.
This resource has been designed in consultation with heads of schools, academic teaching staff and administrators responsible for locating support for new teaching academics.
The simple structure of this resource enables staff to find:
support for their teaching
checklists for teaching
opportunities to develop their scholarship of teaching
academic development offerings
information about ACU’s organisational structure
learning and teaching policies available to inform and guide teaching.
The ILAT self-paced resource is designed to be a short introduction only.
After reviewing the ILAT self-paced resource, academics are encouraged to consider engaging in additional academic development opportunities offered by the Learning and Teaching Centre, to improve their teaching.
