Internal Transfers and Secondments

  • Arrange to meet with your new supervisor to understand your new role and day-to-day activities.
  • Be honest and open about your development needs. Ask clarifying questions and ask for regular feedback from your supervisor and peers.
    • Examples of clarifying questions are: Could you please elaborate on that? Tell me more about… What did you mean when you said…? Are there specific…?
  • Consult the Capability Development Framework (CDF) and the Capability Development Framework (CDF) Development Guide to identify specific competencies you need to develop in the new role.
  • Identify colleagues who are more experienced in certain areas and spend time with them to fast track your learning of systems and processes.

Returning from extended leave

  • Arrange to meet with your supervisor to understand your role and day-to-day activities.
  • Schedule catch ups with the members of your team. There is a high possibility that processes have changed since you left.
  • Be open to acquiring new knowledge and new ways of working. Ask questions. Avoid making assumptions.
  • Consult the Capability Development Framework (CDF) and the Capability Development Framework (CDF) Development Guide to identify specific competencies you need to develop in the new role.
  • Be active on Workplace. Read through older posts on Workplace and previous editions of Staff Bulletin.
