About the Session
Is ignorance bliss or is knowledge power?
Knowledge is our key business at a university so come dive into this topic through an interactive session that explores the nature of knowledge: its characteristics, qualities, and limitations. The session takes a beginners look at the many diverse schools of thought in this area as well as the Catholic vision of knowledge.
This session stands alone but is also the third of six sessions in the mission literacy module.
- Come to a deeper understanding of what knowledge is: its nature, its qualities, and the different types of knowledge.
- Gain insight about the various schools of thought in this area and the key issues that divide contemporary thinking about knowledge.
- Explore the concept of knowledge through the lens of Catholic intellectual tradition and expand your current understanding of the Catholic vision in this area.

These workshops are available to all staff. They are not mandatory for casual staff.
Casual staff must obtain prior approval from their supervisor or manager to attend the training. For casual Academic staff such approval is required from the National Head of School or nominated supervisor (consistent with point 23. of the Employment of Sessional Academic Staff Policy)
The Faculty or Unit is responsible for paying the casual staff member for the time while they attend any non-mandatory professional development.
