ACU is committed to the physical and mental well-being of all staff.

The Employee Assistance Program provides counselling and health and well-being resources to help staff proactively enhance well-being.

Staff and their immediate family members can access:

  • up to 3 one-hour sessions of free, confidential counselling assistance per 12-month period*
  • online health and well-being resources.

(Note that further ACU-funded sessions may be available on a case-by-case basis on the recommendation of your clinician).

ACU EAP program is provided by Acacia EAP. Acacia EAP offer a 24/7 service, rapid response times, emergency telephone counselling and a free-call communications network.

  1. Who is the new EAP Service Provider

The new EAP Service Provider is Aacia EAP. Acacia EAP aims to provide each client an experience that exceeds in expectations and service, quality, and outcomes to make a real difference in helping and supporting people to lead better and healthier lives.

  1. What services with Acacia EAP provide?

Staff members and their immediate family will have access to a set number of sessions free of charge to engage in short-term solution-focused support.

  1. Will my employer be notified?

No, Acacia EAP does not disclose any information regarding your session. Acacia is an independent third-party and committed to maintaining your confidentiality.

  1. Where can I have my appointment?

Acacia has a network of highly qualified, registered professionals across Australia, New Zealand and internationally. We will arrange assistance for you in a convenient location close to where you live / work. Phone, Video and Live Chat are available options also.

  1. Who provides the service?

Acacia’s network includes Psychologists, Social Workers, Counsellors, Financial Coaches, Dieticians and Legal Consultants. All professionals have a minimum of 5-years’ experience in their field and are registered with their regulatory body.

Counselling Services

EAP sessions are typically structured, short-term, solution focussed interventions. If you require further support or longer-term interventions, your EAP practitioner may refer you to an external agency or service, a GP (general practitioner) for ongoing support, or arrange for you to continue your sessions in a private capacity.

All information you disclose to an EAP practitioner is confidential. All EAP practitioners are independent of the University and are focused on supporting your health and well-being.

EAP appointments can be made by calling the appropriate EAP provider or online. Appointments can be made face-to-face at a time and location that’s convenient to you. Counselling services are also available via telephone and online.

Manager and Supervisor Support

The Employee Assistance Program provides managers and supervisors with access to confidential support to work through workplace issues and challenges.

Managers and supervisors can access this support over the phone or online, or through the webpage.

Respect Now Always

ACU is a Respect. Now. Always university with a zero-tolerance policy on sexual assault and sexual harassment. All staff, students and visitors to ACU should feel safe and we expect our staff and students to behave in a manner that is respectful, inclusive and fair on every ACU campus, at all times.

Support for people who have experienced sexual assault or domestic and family violence is available through the 1800RESPECT (1800 737 732) hotline which offers a 24/7 national counselling and support service. The University's Support for Victims of Family/Domestic Violence Policy also outlines leave provisions that are available for staff members who are experiencing the effects of domestic violence.
