How to edit your profile settings

Having a profile picture is useful as it helps to put a human face to who you are, particularly if you are in a large unit where your tutor can quickly associate important posts in the Forums or assessment task submissions. Students are encouraged to upload their own profile pictures.

You can upload a profile picture by editing your profile settings:

  1. From the User menu at the top-right of the screen, select the Profile option.
  2. Click Edit Profile.
  3. Under the User Picture sections, drag and drop a picture from a folder on your computer into the upload box, or click the Add File button to choose a picture from your computer:

  4. Click the Update Profile button to save your changes.

How to edit your Notification preferences

Your notification preferences determine how you receive notifications via email or inside LEO about certain things, such as assignment submissions, messages, or activity inside your units. Some of the actions that might generate a notification include:

  • Another LEO user sends a message.
  • Someone posting in a forum that you are subscribed to.
  • Receiving a digital receipt when successfully submitting a Turnitin Assignment.

You can change your personal preferences, which will apply across all your LEO units. If your tutors are relying on such notifications for communications, leave your notifications active, or you may miss important information from your tutors.

  1. Click the User Menu at the top-right of LEO and select the Preferences option.
  2. Click Notification preferences.
  3. Click the red and green buttons to toggle On and Off each type of notification you do or do not want to receive.

About these preferences

  • Web notifications appear under the Bell icon next to the User Menu. Email notifications are sent to your ACU student email.
  • Online means that you are logged into LEO, and Offline means you are not logged into LEO.

This means you can determine what type of notification you get, depending on whether you are currently using LEO or not.

For example, you may wish to get web notifications when logged into LEO, as you will see them appear at the top of the screen, and email notifications if you are not in LEO at the time. You may wish to get both, or none. Notifications for each type of activity in LEO units can be specified individually.

In the following example, this user will get a web notification about Assignments (such as if their assignment has been graded) if they are logged into LEO. If they are not logged into LEO, they will get an email:

  1. Click the User Menu at the top-right of LEO and select the Preferences option.
  2. Click Message preferences.
  3. Click the red and green buttons to toggle On and Off for each type of notification you do or do not want to receive. See the information above to see how the On/Off and Online/Offline notifications function.
