The default text editor within the LEO environment is TinyMCE which is also used in numerous other internet-based tools. It works a little like a simple online version of Word, allowing you to change the size of text, align paragraphs, add headings, colour and other formatting.
There are many text editing and content embedding functionalities available to use in this this text editor. Some of the more commonly used functionalities have been highlighted below.
'Toolbar Toggle' opens up two more rows of editing buttons. When you first open a page with the text editor, you will probably only see the first row of buttons until you click the 'Toggle Toolbar' button.
'Insert/edit link' allows you to embed a URL link. This might link to an external webpage, to an activity within a unit or to a file to open or download.
'Paste from Word' is an extremely useful button which allows you bring content in from a Word document without messing up the formatting.
'Insert/edit image' allows uploading of image files, resizing and wrapping text options around the image.
'Full screen mode' for when the text editor window is too small to see your work effectively. Alternately, try dragging the corner of the editor to enlarge it.
'Edit HTML source' is for users who have some knowledge of HTML but can also be used to help embed videos and social media posts.
For an in-depth look at some of the text editor functions including embedding links and images, see Styling LEO units in the Your units section of the LEO Guides.
See the Text editor page in Learning materials topic of the LEO Guides for more description on using the text editor.
