If you are a lecturer-in-charge (LIC) of a unit, it is your responsibility to ensure that your units are available at the beginning of semester and are kept up-to-date. This may include creating the unit itself and adding learning activities and resources, as well as managing users and groups.

Some of the items that should exist in a LEO unit include:

  • Unit outline and assessment outline.
  • The communication strategy and tools (such as forums).
  • Learning activities and assessments, which may include quizzes and assignments.
  • Resources such as readings, videos and web links.

Frequently asked questions

The pages in this Managing Units section of the LEO Guides explain the concepts of creating and managing units, users, activities, groups and much more.

Below are answers to some common questions from staff who are new to the Editing Lecturer role in LEO.

Log into LEO, then click the Dashboard link on the LEO home page. You can then use the filter to show In progress units, which are your units running in the current teaching period.

Units that have been created already, but are not yet open to students, may be found by filtering for Future units.

When you create a new unit, it will be displayed on the Dashboard for enrolled staff and students:

Archived units (from previous teaching periods) that you were enrolled in are also available on the Dashboard under the Archived Units block, where they are organised by the year they were taught it.
