About the Session

This two-hour practical online workshop equips ACU managers with the tools, skills, and confidence to lead flexible and geographically dispersed teams, assess flexible work requests, foster inclusive team cultures, and navigate key decision points using the Flexible Work Toolkit.

By the end of this information session, managers will:

  • Navigate ACU's Flexible Working Arrangements Toolkit to support flexible work arrangements aligned with university Flexible Work Arrangements (FWA) Guide and Policy.
  • Evaluate FWA requests with a clear understanding of the shared responsibilities of managers and staff, as well as the needs of the University, work unit, and team.
  • Apply a range of tools to build a team culture built on trust, inclusion, and accountability that supports diverse flexible working styles and team cohesion.
  • Apply a practical model to guide challenging conversations with team members.
  • Identify key decision points in managing flexible work agreements and know when and how to access available support resources.

These workshops are available to all staff. They are not mandatory for casual staff.

Casual staff must obtain prior approval from their supervisor or manager to attend the training. For casual Academic staff such approval is required from the National Head of School or nominated supervisor (consistent with point 23. of the Employment of Sessional Academic Staff Policy).

The Faculty or Unit is responsible for paying the casual staff member for the time while they attend any non-mandatory professional development.
