The University Research Committee (URC) is a Standing Committee of Academic Board. The Committee's role is to oversee the University's research and enterprise activities, including the development of future research capability, effective infrastructure and systems, fundamental research, as well as the translation of research and the application of research for wider social impact.
The Committee also works with the Chair of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Research Committee to advance knowledge creation, industry and community partnerships, community-led research and capacity building that supports the University's cultural capability strategy for research.

Membership should include at least one Early Career Researcher among elected or appointed members.
Elected members should be from different disciplines. Where possible, researcher appointed by the Chair should be from disciplines other than those of the elected members.
Appointed members will be selected to ensure representation from both research institutes and schools.
Where a suitable elected member is not identified via the election process, the Chair will nominate a member.
Where necessary, the Chair can nominate another member of the Committee to act as Chair.
Members unable to attend a meeting may nominate a designated alternative to attend as proxy.
All committee members, including the Chair, have voting rights.
Quorum for URC meetings is half the members of the Committee plus one.
