ACU maintains a panel of approved recruitment agencies under a Preferred Supplier Agreement (PSA) to support temporary labour, specialist recruitment, and hard-to-fill vacancies.

These agencies provide national reach, experience, and expertise across a range of disciplines, including student services and administration, IT, HR, finance, marketing, office support and executive assistants, governance, and facilities management.

Under ACU's Preferred Supplier Agreement (PSA), fees for temporary labour hire and permanent placements have been pre-negotiated. Hiring managers can engage any approved agency directly without obtaining multiple quotes for services.

Approved Recruitment Agencies

Always use an approved supplier unless a formal exemption has been requested and approved. For further information, please contact the Talent Team.

Recruiting Temporary Staff

How do I engage temporary labour?

Once the required approvals have been obtained, hiring managers can approach an approved recruitment agency directly or contact their Talent Partner for advice on the most appropriate supplier.

The Temporary Labour Requisition Form can be used to obtain approvals and as a guide to the information recruitment agencies will typically require when sourcing temporary staff.

Resources

When is temporary labour appropriate?

  • Short-term vacancies
  • Backfilling leave
  • Project work
  • Peak workload periods

Recruiting Fixed-Term and Continuing Staff

How do I engage an external recruitment agency?

If you are considering engaging an external recruitment agency to support the recruitment of a fixed-term or continuing position, contact your Talent Partner in the first instance.

Your Talent Partner will work with you to:

  • Determine whether an external agency is appropriate
  • Select an approved supplier from the preferred agency panel
  • Confirm the recruitment scope, timelines, and deliverables
  • Review the fee structure and supplier agreement
  • Engage the agency and manage the recruitment process in partnership with them

When are external recruitment agencies appropriate?

  • A fixed-term or continuing role is difficult to fill
  • Specialist market expertise is required
  • A targeted search is needed
  • Additional sourcing support would assist the recruitment process

External agencies may be used alongside ACU's own recruitment activities.

All temporary labour engagements must comply with ACU procurement requirements and use approved suppliers. Where an approved supplier cannot be used, a formal exemption must be requested and approved. For further information, please contact the Talent Team.

Good Practice

Before engaging temporary staff or an external agency:

  • Ensure the requirement cannot be met through existing staffing arrangements
  • Obtain the required approvals
  • Use approved suppliers
  • Clearly define the role scope and expectations

When working with an agency:

  • Provide a clear briefing
  • Maintain regular communication
  • Ensure alignment with ACU recruitment processes and timelines
