Acknowledgement of Country

We acknowledge and pay our respects to the First Peoples, the Traditional Custodians of the lands and waterways. We recognise their spiritual and ongoing cultural connection to Country. We respectfully acknowledge Elders past and present and thank them for their wisdom and guidance as we walk in their footsteps.

Our commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples employment

This commitment is led by our Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Zlatko Skrbis. His leadership advocates strong community engagement, education and employment outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

As a Catholic university, and aligned to our mission and values, the ACU People Plan 2022 - 2025 articulates our commitment to advance Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' employment at ACU. We've also made bold commitments in the ACU Staff Enterprise Agreement 2022 - 2025 to grow ACU's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workforce across professional, academic and research streams.

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples Employment Plan 2023 - 2026 will guide our priorities over the next three years. It includes a range of initiatives to attract and retain Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff, build and develop capability to support staff to grow and succeed in their roles and enhance the cultural safety of the workplace.
