Allowances (other than higher duties allowances and on-call allowances) will be paid to eligible employees in accordance with Schedule 3. These allowances will not be pro-rated for part-time employees. Except as specified in Schedule 3, the allowances listed in that schedule will be increased during the term of this Agreement in accordance with the percentage increases specified in clause 3.3 at the times specified in that clause.
Higher Duties Allowances
If an employee is required to temporarily perform duties or fill a position classified at a higher level than that which the employee occupies, they will receive their normal Salary, plus an allowance equal to the difference between the employee’s normal Salary and the minimum incremental step within the classification level of the position temporarily being filled by the employee, provided the employee is required to perform these duties or fill this position for a period of not less than:
Ten (10) consecutive working days, inclusive of public holidays, for Professional Employee positions; or
Fifteen (15) consecutive weeks for Academic Employee positions.
Higher duties will not normally be paid on periods of approved leave of greater than four (4) weeks if alternate arrangements have been made by their supervisor for another employee to be assigned those duties whilst the employee is on approved leave.
Upon cessation of employment, if an employee has performed higher duties for a continuous period of twelve (12) months prior to their end date, calculation of any outstanding entitlements will include the higher duties allowance.
