Supporting parents at ACU
At ACU we understand it’s important to have family-friendly workplace practices that support parents at all stages of their journey.
Our generous and flexible parental leave provisions support expectant and new parents and their partners, including adoptive and foster parents. Read Professor Justin Kemp's story about how he accessed ACU’s parental leave in a part-time arrangement to become a stay-at-home dad. Hear from Bethany Hawkins about how she’s managing returning to work after a second period of parental leave.
The Expectant and New Parents Guide (PDF, 797KB) provides support, practical information, and links to useful external resources for staff members and supervisors to plan and manage all stages of their parenting journey. Checklists for staff members and supervisors for each stage will assist in tracking your progress.
Booklets focussed on each of the three stages are included for easy navigation.
Booklet Stage 1 – Preparing for parenthood (PDF, 881KB)
Booklet Stage 2 – Becoming a parent (PDF, 886KB)
Booklet Stage 3 – Return to work following leave (PDF, 1MB)
