In January 2024, ACU identified underpayments affecting some casual (sessional) academic staff and commenced remediation payments to current and former staff.

Later in 2024, ACU began a broader Wage Compliance Program. This is a comprehensive review of employee entitlements, covering obligations under staff enterprise agreements and relevant legislation. The review assesses both current and former staff of ACU, across different employee cohorts.

Remediation payments have commenced for:

  • casual (sessional) academic staff in June 2026, and
  • non-sessional academic staff in August 2026

The review is ongoing. Other cohorts are to be addressed in subsequent stages of the Program. Individuals will be contacted directly if a remediation payment is identified.

ACU continues to provide regular updates to the Fair Work Ombudsman (FWO) as this work progresses.

Our commitment to wage integrity

Wage integrity means addressing underpayments properly and transparently, in line with both legal obligations and ACU's values.

ACU is committed to treating every person with dignity and respect, consistent with Catholic Social teaching.
