Academic staff are asked to follow the process below to prepare and submit your Progress Plan.

Step 1: Book time for a conversation

Your supervisor is responsible for arranging a meeting with you to discuss your Progress Plan. If you have not received a meeting invitation, contact your supervisor.

Step 2: Prepare and submit your draft Progress Plan

Complete and submit your draft Progress Plan using the Academic Staff Progress Planning Tool before your conversation with your supervisor.

You can either complete the guided questions in the tool or upload a Progress Plan document you have prepared separately.

If you use the guided tool, you will be prompted to reflect on your achievements, set goals for the year ahead, and consider your development and career aspirations.

Step 3: Have a discussion with your supervisor

Meet with your supervisor to discuss your achievements, priorities and goals, development needs and career aspirations. Update your Progress Plan following the discussion where needed.

Step 4: Submit your final Progress Plan

Return to the Academic Staff Progress Planning Tool and submit your final plan for supervisor review and approval.

Step 5: Supervisor approval

Your supervisor will either approve your final Progress Plan or return it to you for revision or further discussion.

Once approved, your Progress Plan will be saved centrally, and copies will be provided to you and your supervisor. You will receive confirmation by email.
