About the Session

In this session, participants will explore the Catholic vision of the Common Good, understanding its foundational role in promoting social justice, solidarity, and human dignity. There will be opportunity to reflect on personal actions and decisions that can contribute to addressing global injustices and fostering a more inclusive, sustainable society in line with Catholic Social Teaching.

This session stands alone but is also the fifth of six sessions in the mission literacy series.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Articulate the importance of the Common Good within Catholic Social Teaching and its connection to other principles, and its role in promoting social justice and solidarity.
  • Identify the social and economic factors contributing to serious global issues such as modern slavery, and reflect on how charity, truth, and active participation in the Common Good can address these challenges.
  • Reflect and evaluate personal actions and choices-such as consumption habits, lifestyle, and attitudes toward solidarity-and consider how these can align with the principles of the Common Good and contribute to building a more just and inclusive society.
