The ACU Campus Ministry wooden Christmas gifts comprise olive wood from Bethlehem made by persecuted Christian Palestinian families living in the West Bank region. The sales of these items provide a livelihood for the community.
Christmas trees have been placed in prominent locations on each campus and staff are invited to leave gifts and Christmas hamper items under them for those who may otherwise go without at Christmas.
Gifts of items suitable for Christmas hampers or toys can be left under the trees in the next three weeks. In addition, each Chapel has been set up with a Christmas tree and Nativity set to help set the scene for the celebration of the birth of the God-child, Jesus.
Campus Ministry team members will be handling out a small Christmas Card and Gift in the next few weeks to staff (apologies if we don’t get to see you all).
If there is a particular time you would like them to visit your team or Faculty (i.e. a team morning or afternoon tea gathering), please contact Tony Hoban (tony.hoban@acu.edu.au) to coordinate this.
Details of Christmas Trees/Charities on each Campus:
Campus | Location of Christmas Tree where Staff can leave gifts | Charity which will receive the gifts |
Brisbane | Campus Mail Room & Reception | St Vincent de Paul Society |
North Sydney | Tenison Woods House | St Vincent de Paul Society |
Strathfield | Atrium | St Vincent de Paul Society |
Canberra | Blackfriars Reception | St Vincent de Paul Society |
Melbourne | Reception | The Clemente Program |
Ballarat | Staff Room in Carn Brea | Child and Family Services |
Please leave your gifts by COB on 15 December so that they can be distributed in time for Christmas.
Wishing everyone a happy, holy and safe Christmas - from the Campus Ministry team.
