Re-enrolment drop-in sessions and CMAS upgrades

As part of Student Administration's ongoing commitment to service excellence, AskACU will be running on-campus re-enrolment drop-in sessions in July, while CMAS enhancements will improve information available to students and streamline processing for staff.

As winter begins, Student Administration remains dedicated to equitable and supportive services for students and staff. Our teams continue to deliver initiatives to boost engagement and efficiency, helping everyone at ACU succeed. Central to ACU's value of service is offering tailored support to meet individual needs.

AskACU drop-in re-enrolment sessions

AskACU is currently running a series of on-campus drop-in sessions designed to support both continuing and new students with their mid-year re-enrolment. These sessions are taking place across all ACU campuses.

The sessions offer proactive, in-person guidance - helping students better understand their course maps and navigate their study plans. The initiative has proven particularly valuable for international students, who represent a significant portion of those registered.

Building on the success of a pilot run in January, AskACU plans to host these sessions twice a year moving forward. Half-day sessions are scheduled for July, taking place on Wednesdays from 9am - 12:30pm, where students will register and then drop in for personalised assistance.

This initiative, implemented by Amy Knurek and Warren Mead, not only improves the student experience but reduces the number of individual enrolment queries, freeing up university resources during peak times while ensuring students stay on track with their studies.

Completion of the CMAS E2 project

Work has recently concluded on CMAS E2, a project to extend, enhance and refine ACU's Curriculum Management and Approval System (CMAS). This work is part of our ongoing commitment to improving our systems and processes and the user experience for both students and staff.

Enhancements delivered by the project include:

  • Improved or expanded information for current and future students in the Handbook and course browser:
    • Course maps are now managed and stored in CMAS, and published in the handbook, where they are linked from the Course Enrolment Guides (CEGs).
    • Unit offering information is now available in the unit pages in the handbook.
    • Improved information about majors, minors and specialisations is now available on the course browser.
  • Streamlined administration and reduced duplication and manual handling:
    • Automated update of unit and course information between CMAS and Banner, including AHEGS updates, unit CRN updates, and discontinuation units and courses.
    • Improved collaboration and proposal features to create a more seamless collaborative and proposal workflows and efficient data entry for users.
  • Improved compliance support:
    • Implementation of unit graduate capabilities with the learning outcome mapping and external standards mapping for external accreditation.

Congratulations and thanks to the project team, led initially by Lucy Hellard and then by Pei-Lin Ng, for bringing this important work to a successful conclusion.
