Research Essentials - Researcher Profiles

Researcher profiles are a good way to keep track of your research outputs and research performance. They are also a way to showcase yourself and promote your research to potential collaborators and industry partners.

These 15-minute sessions will introduce a variety of online researcher profile platforms and explain what is involved in setting up, linking and updating your profile. We will look at some advantages and limitations of each platform and how to make the most of your online presence.

Researcher Profiles 1 - ORCID, 1pm - 1:15pm, Tuesday 10 June

ORCIDs are increasingly necessary in scholarly publishing and grant application workflows. Learn how to register for an ORCID and populate your profile in this 15-minute workshop. The session will include how to link your ORCID to your Web of Science and Scopus profiles covered in the following workshops this week.

Researcher Profiles 2 - Web of Science, 1pm - 1:15pm, Wednesday 11 June

A Web of Science ResearcherID provides a unique identifier that will ensure you are correctly linked to your publications indexed in the Web of Science and solve any author identity issues. In this 15-minute session you will learn how to claim your ResearcherID and make corrections or add missing information if required. Keep your ORCID up to date by linking it to your Web of Science ResearcherID.

Researcher Profiles 3 - Scopus, 1pm - 1:15pm, Thursday 12 June

In this 15-minute workshop learn how a Scopus Author Profile is created and how to access and manage your profile, including how to update affiliations, merge multiple profiles or add or remove publications, preprints or grants. Connect your Scopus Author ID to ORCID and import records to keep your ORCID profile up to date.

Researcher Profiles 4 - Google Scholar, 1pm - 1:15pm, Friday 13 June

A Google Scholar profile can provide an openly accessible list of your publications and citations as available on the world wide web. In this 15-minute workshop you will learn how to create and manage your Google Scholar profile, and the advantages and limitations of this platform.
