The ACU/Cabrini Learning, Teaching and Research Collaboration was celebrated and opened by Professor Pauline Nugent, Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and Associate Professor Leanne Boyd, Executive Director of Nursing and the Cabrini Institute, on Tuesday 17 May 2016 at Cabrini Hospital Malvern in Melbourne.
ACU has a long association with the Cabrini health care organisation. Cabrini was one of the first placement providers to utilise and develop the flexible model for nursing student placements.
Nursing students are on placement at Cabrini facilities in acute, sub-acute, palliative care and aged-care areas, as well as midwifery students enrolled in the diploma of nursing with ACUcom.
Executive Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences, Professor Michelle Campbell said the joint collaboration highlights a deeper and stronger relationship that will enhance excellence in clinical education and research capacity building.
“In close collaboration with Cabrini, we will explore innovative ways to develop nursing research capability, canvassing partnerships with other institutions and reviewing our joint appointment arrangements.”
“I am confident this enhanced partnership between ACU and Cabrini will prove extremely rewarding not only for both parties but the communities we both serve.”
