Saturday 3 December is International Day for People with a Disability, a United Nations sanctioned day that celebrates progress in breaking down barriers, opening doors, and realising an inclusive society for all.
International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) is an opportunity for members of the ACU community to understand more about the capability of people with disabilities and consider how they can do their part to assist them to reach their potential.
You are invited to attend the “Empowering People with a Disability” Seminar.
This seminar celebrates International Day for People with Disability, providing participants with the opportunity to learn about the work of ACU’s Centre for Development and Disability Research and the centre’s future plans from one of its leaders.
Presenter Professor Christine Imms is the Director of the Centre for Disability and Development Research (CeDDR), which was officially launched at ACU earlier this year. Christine will provide a brief overview of the visions for the future of this research centre and how outcomes of the research agenda aim to build a more equitable and inclusive world for people with disabilities. Kim O’Brien, Senior HR Officer Workforce Strategy will speak about the University’s partnership with the National Disability Recruitment Coordinator, and plans to enhance employment outcomes for people with disabilities in the future.
