A message from Chief Operating Officer Stephen Weller: Updates on the Business Continuity Planning Project and the Project Management Community of Practice.
Business Continuity Planning
Over the last three months, the Office of Planning and Strategic Management has been working to support the development of Business Continuity Planning across ACU, guided by the Business Continuity Planning Steering Group.
Business continuity is a state of continued, uninterrupted business operation. It supports the sustainment of strategic goals and objectives in the face of disruptive events to a unit’s essential services.
Business Continuity Planning at ACU is focused on understanding the operating environment, what we need to keep doing immediately after a disruptive event, and how we learn from experience to build organisational resilience.
Work has progressed well and we are about to commence a Business Impact Analysis exercise to identify critical processes, interdependencies and ways the University can act to preserve the well-being of its students, staff, reputation and continuity of operations when faced with disruptive events.

Project Management Community of Practice
Since its launch in November 2015, more than 180 staff from across ACU have come together to share ideas and knowledge about how to successfully manage projects in the university environment.
With guest speakers from a range of other universities, government and the private sector each session has helped build networks and capability in the profession of project management.
The ACU Project Management Community of Practice is a community of people working, or aspiring to work, in project management across ACU.
The Community of Practice is an open forum for all ACU staff and I encourage all project managers and interested staff to join a community of practice session on your campus and participate in this exciting and diverse conversation.
For further information please contact Bronwen Mander, HR Projects, Program Coordinator on extension 3487 or email bronwen.mander@acu.edu.au or visit the Project Management web page.
Regards,
Stephen
