ACU 2016 Teaching Development Grant winners

Professor Anne Cummins, DVC (SLT) congratulates the members of faculty who have been awarded ACU Teaching Development Grants this year.

We are pleased to see their initiatives contributing to improving the quality of learning and teaching at ACU with a strong focus on student engagement and success. We look forward to working with the successful applicants in completing their projects.

The Awards and Grants Committee received 17 competitive proposals, and the committee selected eight projects for funding. The topics align with the strategic priorities of ACU and cover a wide range of initiatives.

The successful 2016 ACU Teaching Development Grant projects and project leaders are:

• Dr Michelle Black, Faculty of Education and Arts, Strathfield: ‘Global Health e-Learning Project’.
• Dr Christian Cobbold, Faculty of Health Sciences, Brisbane: ‘New Echo 360 active learning platform at ACU: building a toolkit for students and staff engagement in first year Health Sciences’.
• Dr Peta Drury, Faculty of Health Sciences, North Sydney: ‘Evaluating marking moderation practices within the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine (SoNMP)’.
• Associate Professor Robyn Horner, Faculty of Theology and Philosophy, Melbourne: ‘How Effective is THCT605 in Supporting Leadership for Change in Schools’.
• Dr Christian Pitcher, Faculty of Health Sciences, Melbourne: ‘Aligning professional practice in clinical exercise physiology: creating a high challenge/high support academic environment through constructive alignment and work integrated learning’.
• Dr Jacqueline Randle, Faculty of Health Sciences, Melbourne: ‘Embedding the ‘researcher’s voice’ into the core health science undergraduate evidence-based practice unit, HLSC122 Inquiry in health care’.
• Dr Michael Theophilos Faculty of Theology and Philosophy, Melbourne: ‘Retention and Engagement: An Interactive History on the Bible and its Historical Context in 24 Three-Dimensional Interactive Ancient Artefacts’
• Dr Kirsten Way, Faculty of Law and Business, Brisbane:  ‘Authentic Work-Based Assessment for Online Students’.
