A message from the Associate Vice-Chancellor Victoria Dr John Ballard: Last Sunday the St. Patrick’s Campus held our annual Open Day and was host to 12,800 guests as prospective students attended briefings, inundated school and faculty stalls, participated in conducted tours, and enjoyed the entertainment, food vans and festive spirit. The event was a huge success and I commend the many staff and volunteers who gave up their Sunday to make it so.
Yet when I arrived to work early the next morning, there was no evidence that it had ever happened. Stalls, installations, furniture were gone or back in place and the Campus was spotlessly clean. People who had been at Open Day were bustling about their daily business and it is testament to the extraordinary efforts and commitment of all of those ‘behind the scenes’.
Student Ambassadors and volunteers ready to welcome visitors to Open Day.
Sunday's Open Day was a huge success. I wish to thank all staff and student volunteers for giving up your Sunday. I particularly wish to acknowledge our events, marketing and facilities management teams who organised and promoted the day, packed, moved, cleaned and covered every detail. The Campus looked terrific, a view voiced by both guests and staff. There was strong engagement by prospective students in both academic enquiry and the entertainment/activities in the St. Mary of the Cross Square and the front car park.
Open Day visitors had the opportunity to learn about the Jim-Baa-Yer Indigenous Higher Education Unit.
We were fortunate with the weather and all proudly wore our newly branded hoodies, making it clear to all guests the many people available to support their visit to the St. Patrick's Campus. It was another record breaking turnout.
On the 27th of this month, ACU’s final Open Day will be held on our beautiful Aquinas Campus in Ballarat and I encourage as many as possible to visit, and support the local team.
Once again, my deep appreciation for all involved in contributing to promoting ACU and the St. Patrick’s Campus both elegantly and successfully.
