Help others to see and experience life differently

Image of spectacles on a wall, with the phrase

The Office of Planning and Strategic Management are collecting unused spectacles as a community engagement initiative in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.  We hope to extend this to other campuses too.

ACU staff are invited to participate in this great initiative.

All you need to do is just bring any unused spectacles and drop them off at the areas below.

The spectacles collected from ACU will be sent to the Lions Club, Clontarf, Queensland refurbishing facility where they have 24 lensometer machines, 12 industrial cleaners and other grading, lens cutting and related equipment.  The Lions Club, along with Rotary Club and other humanitarian organisations then send them overseas and within Australia to the underprivileged, including the aged and young children, with no expense or obligation on the recipient. For more information, visit the Lions Club website.

The drop off areas until early November are below:

  • Brisbane: Campus Ministry Lounge (Opposite Main Reception), Banyo
  • North Sydney: Tenison Woods House Foyer, North Sydney
  • Melbourne: The Concierge Foyer, 115 Victoria Parade, Melbourne.
