ACU 2018 Teaching Development Grant winners

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Students, Learning and Teaching) Professor Anne Cummins congratulates the members of faculty who have been awarded ACU Teaching Development Grants this year.

We are pleased to see their initiatives contributing to improving the quality of learning and teaching at ACU with a strong focus on student engagement and work-integrated learning. We look forward to working with the successful applicants as they undertake their projects.

The Awards and Grants Committee received 15 competitive proposals, and the committee selected nine projects for funding. The topics align with the strategic priorities of ACU and cover a wide range of initiatives.

The successful 2018 ACU Teaching Development Grant proposals are:

  • Dr Robyn Bentley-Williams and team, Faculty of Education and Arts, Strathfield: ‘Work-Integrated Learning in Differentiating: Impact on Teacher Education Practice’
  • Dr Adam Burston and team, Faculty of Health Sciences, Brisbane: ‘Enhancing and integrating the digital learning and clinical simulation spaces for 1st Year commencing Bachelor of Nursing students’
  • Dr Leigha Dark and team, Faculty of Health Sciences, North Sydney: ‘Enhancing assessment feedback dialogue between students, peers, and staff in the Bachelor of Speech Pathology program’
  • Dr Santha James and team, Faculty of Health Sciences, Melbourne: ‘Gauging Student Preconcepts in Biology’
  • Dr Amy McPherson and team, Education and Arts, North Sydney: ‘Developing sustainable school–university partnerships in teacher education to support work integrated learning in high poverty school contexts’
  • Professor Debbie Plath and team, Faculty of Health Sciences, Strathfield: ‘Prepared for Placement: Program for international Master of Social Work students’
  • Associate Professor Loretta Sheppard and team, Faculty of Health Sciences, Melbourne: ‘Supporting culturally responsive practice during fieldwork placements’
  • Dr Matthew Sweeney and team, Faculty of Health Sciences, Brisbane: ‘Improving Student Engagement through Tutor Training and Support’
  • Dr Monica Wong and team, Faculty of Education and Arts, Strathfield: ‘Visioning My Learning’
