Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education and Innovation), Professor Zlatko Skrbis, congratulates staff who have been awarded Citations for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning.
The ACU Citations for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning recognise and reward significant and sustained contributions made by individuals and teams to the quality of student learning. Competitive applications were received from a diverse range of staff, the successful applicants for 2019 citations are:
Dr Renata Cinelli, Senior Lecturer, Health and Physical Education, School of Education, Faculty of Education and Arts: for leadership that facilitates enhanced social, cultural and academic student experience; student support; and promotes access to local and global opportunities for ACU students.
Dr Joanne Harris, Lecturer, School of Education, Faculty of Education and Arts: for making an outstanding contribution to Music education, with student-centred learning the focus of her teaching.
Dr Isabelle Lys, Senior Lecturer in Bioscience, School of Behavioural and Health Sciences, Faculty of Health Sciences: for scholarly and collaborative approaches to an authentic blended learning environment that facilitates peer learning and engagement in biomedical science curricula.
Dr Michael Noetel, Lecturer, School of Behavioural and Health Sciences, Faculty of Health Sciences: for using top-level evidence to inform teaching, and using top-level evidence to create distinctive graduates.
Dr Antonia Pizzey, Lecturer, School of Theology, Faculty of Theology and Philosophy: for teaching theology in an empathetic, student-focused manner which synchronises with ACU’s mission and expresses her commitment to truth, academic excellence, and service.
Rev Dr James McEvoy, Senior Lecturer, Systematic Theology, School of Theology, Faculty of Theology and Philosophy: for development and delivery of the Unit ‘Theology of Childhood, Close to the Mystery of God’. This unit is an innovative Australian leader that responds to the Royal Commission's call for a ‘theology of childhood’ to underpin working with children in the church. The teaching of this Unit is supported by Dr McEvoy's research which is published in the highest-ranking international journals.
Dr John Mahoney, Lecturer, School of Behavioural and Health Sciences, Faculty of Health Sciences: for applying evidence from the scholarship of learning and teaching literature to enhance student outcomes in exercise science.
