The ACU Collaborate Plus team congratulate winner of Pitch Plus Award Garreth Wigg, a religious education postgraduate student based in Canberra, for his digital experience idea.
Garreth’s digital enhancement solution was well researched and presented in a manner which clearly defined his experience with the problem being addressed. His solution entailed streaming a series of ACU podcasts with a focus on real student stories, campus-specific content and various lecture recordings. With students constantly on the move and wanting to access everything from their mobile device or watch, he explains how this enables students both to be informed and to multitask on the go without having to navigate their way through emails and the portal.
Garreth said it is a great privilege to have won the Pitch Plus Award.
“My idea for podcasting stems from a love of listening to them myself on my daily commute and when going for a run, as well as using them when teaching students in schools where I have worked. I have found that developing, producing and publishing podcasts with students has provided an opportunity for students to develop and apply strong literacy skills in the classroom. I am looking forward to conducting research on such possibilities when I commence my Doctor of Education studies through ACU next year.”
Garreth has won $500 and an opportunity to experience how the Learning and Teaching Centre identifies and implements digital solutions at ACU.
The Pitch Plus awards is a national competition which is open to ACU students across all ACU campuses. This year, an individual or student team had to present their idea for a better digital experience at ACU.
The Collaborate Plus team was thrilled with the range and quality of ideas that responded to this year’s focus on digital experience.
The team would like to thank all entrants for their participation in the initiative, particularly for their time in researching, practising and recording their pitch video. It is further encouraged by the underlying positive impact intended by the various solutions presented.
