ACU has been pursuing innovation and, over the past 18 months, the university has focused on four key areas:
The Office of the Provost is launching a series of fortnightly seminars to report on how ACU is meeting its targets in Innovating the Student Experience (ItSE). The seminars will keep academic and professional staff informed of ACU projects that will invigorate and transform the student experience. The seminars will be conducted via Teams Event live each fortnight during Semester 1.
The first seminar will take place on Thursday 18 February and the topic is INSPIRE: a new project sponsored by the Office of the Provost which aims to provide “easy, simple, and digestible summaries of scholarly evidence for teaching practices, that can be picked up and used within minutes”.
To attend the seminar Innovating the Student Experience – INSPIRE, please click the link to download and accept the following details in your Outlook calendar:
Date: Thursday 18 February
Start Time: 1.10pm AEDT (12.10pm Brisbane time)
End Time: 1.40pm AEDT (12.40pm Brisbane time)
Alternatively, if you have trouble opening the calendar invite above, you can also access the event at the start time by clicking this link to join.
We are aware of time pressures on all staff, so the sessions will be brief and informative. For the first seminar, we are focusing on one topic. Future seminars will have two 10-minute presentations followed by five minutes for questions, answers and comments. Sessions will commence 10 minutes past the hour, and the day will vary from fortnight to fortnight to increase the opportunity for staff to be involved.
Important feedback over the years has highlighted the need for ACU to communicate more effectively across all organisational areas and have a less siloed operation. Workplace has been instrumental in making improvements in this area and will be a vital resource to support this seminar series. The details of scheduled presentations will be shared in Workplace and we encourage you to check from time to time to see what is coming up. All presentations will be recorded and posted in Innovation@ACU: an open group that you are encouraged to join. All comments and questions from staff, as well as the presenter’s responses, will be posted to this group and will provide a forum for ongoing discussion.
