Understanding the difference an investment in someone’s dignity can make, National Head of the Peter Faber School of Business Professor Susan Dann is proud to be reappointed to the Forde Foundation Board of Advice.
The Forde Foundation is a perpetual trust of the Queensland Government established in 2000 in response to the Forde Inquiry into Abuse of Children in Queensland Institutions. It aims to help improve the quality of life for forgotten Australians and other people who were abused or neglected in care, through advancing their health, education and welfare.
Throughout her childhood, Professor Dann had many family connections with people raised in care and so had personal and professional motivation to serve on the board.
“The Forde Foundation’s extremely important work is perfectly aligned with ACU’s mission around the dignity of the human person,” she said. “I’ve seen first hand how even the smallest grant can make a far-reaching impact in the life of a person who’s suffered abuse or neglect.”
Professor Dann’s recommendation for the board was made by the Honourable Leanne Linard, MP, Minister for Children and Youth Justice and local member of parliament for the Banyo Campus.
Since 2000, the Forde Foundation has provided more than $3.27 million in grant funding for a variety of items, including dental grants, household appliances and health-related expenses.
