Celebrating steps to sustainability

A new public-facing Sustainability at ACU webpage has been developed to showcase and provide the details of ACU’s often sector-leading sustainability practices, policies and initiatives.

More students are looking to a university’s credentials around sustainability and institutional impact when choosing where to study, and this new page celebrates ACU’s work in this space.

A recent report from Times Higher Education indicates that tertiary students are increasingly concerned about sustainability and the United Nations Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs). According to the report, students feel universities have an important role to play in environmental stewardship and in fostering an ethic of sustainable citizenship. The report also suggests that prospective students’ sustainability views may influence their choice of university and area of study. The three SDGs given highest priority in their decision-making are Quality Education, Climate Action and Zero Hunger.

ACU’s sustainability framework encompasses care for the environment, the fight against poverty and hunger, education for all and the promotion of equality, peace and justice.
