ACU Engagement congratulates Bachelor of Arts student Rori Tudor, who has been awarded the Dan Stewart Community Service Prize for 2021.
This prize is awarded to a student studying at a Sydney campus who has demonstrated outstanding community service.
In keeping with the ACU mission, the BA unit HUMA330 – Community Engagement Placement provided Rori with the opportunity to engage in an activity that meets human and community needs. Rori joined the Blind Citizens Australia (BCA) team to complete 70 hours of service learning.
Blind Citizens Australia General Manager Sally Aurisch said, “Rori worked with several of our staff during her time, as well as assisting with our virtual conference on the weekend. Every piece of feedback I’ve had has been overwhelmingly positive and several people have encouraged her to apply for some vacant positions we currently have.’’
In receiving the award, Rori said, “Working with BCA was such an incredibly rewarding experience that I will never forget. It was a fantastic opportunity to not only learn about people who are blind or vision impaired, but to also engage in that community and make a difference – no matter how small. My time working with BCA is something I am incredibly grateful for and will never forget.”
Rori’s experience is a testament to the value and importance of a reciprocal community engagement partnership. Well done, Rori!
